John Theus: DGD
All too often we hear about players who put themselves over their team. I'd like to share a story about quite the opposite. John Theus loves Georgia so much that he refused to miss a game his senior year, despite dealing with some incredible pain.

Athletic Association honors 'Dawgs headed to the Pro Bowl

You've almost certainly seen the billboards up around the state in the past year or so featuring various Georgia Bulldog football players. The billboards serve as a nice recruiting tool. While the cost per impression among blue chip high school football players is probably pretty high, judging by the number of times I've seen prospects post pictures of larger-than-life Jordan Jenkins, they do get seen. Now the Athletic Association appears to be changing those up during the transition from one season to the next by honoring some former Red and Black standouts who've been selected for the Pro Bowl. This gives them a chance to freshen up those billboards this spring (my money is on a Dominick Sanders billboard in my neighborhood). But it also sends the not-so-subtle message that Georgia players not only make it to the NFL, they thrive there. That's an important message to get across to recruits looking to become the next Todd Gurley or Geno Atkins.

Floyd has a unique skill set
UGA edge-player Leonard Floyd has a skill set very reminiscent to that of other prototypical players in a "34" defense: DeMarcus Ware comes to mind. Let's hit the film room to see why scouts should be in drool mode over this physical freak.
Georgia Publicizing All-Pro 'Dawgs
The above image is going up on billboards throughout Atlanta, and showcases the four Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL who made the Pro Bowl. It's a nice gesture for the players. But it also serves as a nice recruiting tool and a way to maintain program visibility. I'm all for winning the propaganda war in the metro area. I mean, it's not like residents there have another college football team to root for.
Todd Gurley Headed To NFL According To Mark Richt.
Mark Richt on radio just about says RB Todd Gurley entering NFL draft: "I believe he'll still be a very high draft pick in this draft."
— Marc Weiszer (@marcweiszer) December 2, 2014
Coach Richt said Monday night on his call-in show what all of us have known for some time. Todd Gurley is entering the 2015 NFL Draft, and from now on he'll sign as many autographs as he darn well pleases. Okay, I made the last part up. But the point is that even with a torn ACL Gurley should be a relatively high draft pick, depending on NFL medical staffs' examinations of his surgically-repaired knee. Those inspections will be invasive enough that they're illegal in fourteen states, even among consenting adults. Because when you pay people what NFL owners do, over-analyzing just feels like the thing to do. Trust me, guys. If you need a tailback and Todd Gurley's still there in the fourth round you should jump on that. For now, thanks for the memories Todd. We'll always have what might have been.
