It has been a big week for Mark Fox and Georgia Basketball who notched their third straight win over Georgia Tech with a 21-point dismantling and also secured a commitment from five-star point guard Ashton Hagans. Today they will look to add to that by wrapping up the pre-SEC schedule with a win over Temple at Stegeman Coliseum.
The Bulldogs turned in one of their most complete offensive performances of the season against the Yellow Jackets outscoring them 44-25 in the second half to cruise to victory. Yante Maten led the way with 24 points while Rayshaun Hammonds added 11. Georgia shot 58 percent from the field and were 9-of-19 from three-point range in the win.
Temple arrives in Athens with a 7-3 record with losses at La Salle, George Washington and at home against Villanova. They have the 11th best RPI rating in Division 1 and feature a talented backcourt combination of Quinton Rose and Levan Shawn Alston.
Rose leads the team averaging 17.0 points per game while Alston is right behind at 16.0. Both are terrific three-point shooters with Rose knocking down 45 percent of his attempts and Alston shooting a blistering 48 percent. The unit also features 6-8 senior forward Obi Enechionyia who is averaging 11.2 points and and a team-best 6.4 rebounds.
The Owls are a stingy defensive team that like to control the pace. Georgia is a bit deeper team but Temple will provide a stiff challenge and the opportunity for another resume building win.
