#Mizzou D-tackle Sheldon Richardson on Georgia: "It's like watching Big Ten football. It's old man football."

Tough talk from a player for a team the Big Ten rejected. How 'bout if you actually play an SEC football game before you start ragging on charter members of the league, all right, Sheldon? You're the Vietnamese boat people of the conference; we rescued you from oblivion. Show a little respect until you actually win something . . . something like a game against a Division I-A opponent, O.K.? Go 'Dawgs!

"Russ" has served as the interim mascot on and off for the past few years. Now he will become Uga IX. He'll be crowned on Sept. 15. Editors Note: Seth has the story up. And we asked for Russ to be crowned here.

All hail Russ! This move is long overdue. Go 'Dawgs!

11. Georgia Once again, the Bulldogs benefit from not playing the three best teams in the SEC (Alabama, LSU and Arkansas). If they win at South Carolina on Oct. 6, I expect them to repeat as SEC East champions, and the fans will have to wait another year before trying to shove Mark Richt out of Athens.

Dawgs pick up a impact JUCO offensive lineman in 6-foot-8, 350 lbs Trenton Brown. Bobo and Friend have been recruiting him since 9th grade.

Good news for the Georgia offensive line! Go 'Dawgs!

While only existing at the Division I level for two seasons and compiling an uninspiring 2-25 record in that time, the Bears' lacrosse program has a deadly bullet in the chamber -- its facility -- and the allure of a geographic location that doesn't involve snow squalls and road salt; this may draw some talent from the northeast and also serve as a flash point for some of the emerging talent in the south.

Mercer has hired a new lacrosse coach to go along with the Bears' new lacrosse facility. Meanwhile, we're fielding a club lacrosse team that's forced to use a rec sports facility and conducting bake sales to fund a baseball stadium expansion. What's wrong with this picture? Go 'Dawgs!

Sources said Georgia's schedule got harder.

Unexpected expansion-driven changes to the basketball schedule just gave the Hoop Hounds a tougher slate. (Hat tip: Team Speed Kills.) I'm sure we're going to get a lot of comments from South Carolina fans who are sympathetic to the injustice of it all. Go 'Dawgs!

I have come to the opinion that we give Georgia entirely too much crap. We’ve played Georgia more than we’ve played Ole Miss, Kentucky, or Florida, not to mention our brothers from 1992 and 2012. We have a lower winning percentage and lower average point differential against Georgia (58.46%, 4.4 delta) than any SEC team not named Missouri (33.33%, -6.67 delta), the Auburnite, or Tennessee, and Herschel was only there for 3 of those 65 games. You’ll notice that a single point separates the deltas of Tennessee, the Auburnite and Georgia, and then there is a jump of 2.46 to LSU, then another 1.82 to Arkansas, and so on. Georgia has been pretty competitive with us for a long time.

Some much-appreciated respect for Georgia from Roll 'Bama Roll. I'm pretty sure Herschel never played against Alabama, but that's a minor point. The hat tip from our fellow Auburn-hating brethren is appreciated. Go 'Dawgs!
