Second Half Open Thread

The Red and Black played some sloppy football on offense and defense but have executed well enough to trade field goals for touchdowns and build a 21-13 lead headed to intermission.

Carson Beck is a clean 8 of 11 for 122 yards and a beautiful touchdown pass to Dominick Lovett. But Kendall Milton has been the real star of the show offensively, churning out 86 rushing yards on 10 carries, even with a 36 yarder wiped off the board due to holding. The Athenians have a decided size advantage over the Jackets, I’d look for them to press that advantage further in the second half.

Defensively the Bulldogs have struggled with misdirection dialed up by Buster Faulkner to take advantage of the Bulldogs’ eager young linebackers. That’ll be a coaching point at the half, I’d expect the Red and Black to play a bit more disciplined after the break.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one, but the ‘Dawgs get the ball coming out of the locker room. That’s the good news. The bad news:

Ifhowever, they can continue moving the ball and avoid dumb mistakes the Red and Black could open this one up shortly.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
