Good morning Dawg fans, and welcome to the first SEC Victory Post of 2022!
For those among us who lamented the lackluster performance of last week, you will be pleased to note the much-improved performance of our favorite football team. As the big Dawg himself said, “I thought we had some guys grow up today. The offense really executed efficiently and did a nice job. The defense was ‘bend, but don’t break’ again and they’ve been very opportunistic in terms of getting turnovers after big plays.”
Brock Bowers scored 3 touchdowns himself, including a beautiful 78 yard reception at the beginning of the second half. Kendall Milton, Stetson Bennett and Oscar Delp each added touchdowns of their own. Jack Podlesney and Jared Zirkel each scored a field goal. The defense took the ball away 3 times, leading to 2 of those 6(!) touchdowns.
There was only 53 seconds left on the game clock when South Carolina scored their lone touchdown, effectively tripling the average points scored against UGA this season. I’m sure the defensive starters will have already had something to say about that.
It is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog Football Wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness or beauty of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.
Coach Kirby Smart coached his 84th game tonight for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 69-15 record and a 0.8214 winning percentage, having carded his sixty-ninth win overall over the Sakerlina Chickens.
At the identical juncture in their careers:
Vince Dooley’s 84th game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs win over Florida in the ninth game of the 1971 season, giving Coach Dooley a record of 58-22-4 and 0.7143 percentage.
Coach Mark Richt was 66-18 (0.7857) after a win over Ole Miss.
Eighty-four games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is three games ahead of Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 11 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.
As always . . .
Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
