Around the SEC: Sandstorm Sucks Edition

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Georgia Athens Banner-Herald-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Content Services, LLC

The Dawgs took care of business in an uninspiring win against Samford that saw them vault to #1 in the polls. The real story of the weekend in the SEC, however, was Bama narrowly escaping Austin with a win and Texas A&M being upset by Appalachian State. In intra-SEC matchups, South Carolina succumbed to the Arkansas Razorbacks, and Kentucky showed that Florida is indeed not a true contender in the East.

Who else made headlines during and after Week 2? Here is what’s happening around the SEC.

  • Kentucky star running back Chris Rodriguez will be suspended two more games before returning for the October 1st game against Ole Miss. His suspension stems from an offseason DUI arrest.
  • South Carolina has lost defensive starters Jordan Strachan and Mo Kaba for the season due to torn ACLs. We wish both players a speedy and complete recovery.
  • Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is not announcing a starting quarterback ahead of their game against Georgia Tech. Whether it is Luke Altmyer or Jaxson Dart taking the first snap under center, I’m pretty confident the Rebels will not have a problem disposing of Georgia Tech.
  • Texas A&M’s famed “Midnight Yell” is a great college football tradition. However, when you poke fun of your unranked Sun Belt opponent only to lose the game, the clip is likely to go viral. Check it out for yourself, and remember, Appalachian State doesn’t care what you think of them.

Sandstorm sucks. Go Dawgs!
