It was a dark and stormy night in Podunk, OK. A few of Podunkdawg’s friends and family gathered at her favorite bar to watch the season opener. While the offense only scored 3 points against the Tigers by the lake, our Junkyard Dawg defense took care of business, both by holding Clemson to 2 rushing yards and by picking off DJ Uiagalelei in the second quarter to eke out a 10-3 victory to open the 2021 season, our first without our beloved housemother.
It is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog football wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.
Coach Kirby Smart coached his 67th game tonight for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 53-14 record and a 0.791 winning percentage, having carded his fifty-third win overall over the Clemson Tigers.
At the identical juncture in their careers:
- Vince Dooley’s 67th game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs win over Clemson in the second game of the 1970 season. Giving Coach Dooley a record of 45-18-4 and 0.7031percentage.
- Coach Mark Richt was 54-13 (0.8060) after a win over South Carolina.
Sixty-seven games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is one game behind Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 7 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.
As always . . .
Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
