Well folks, we’re into the real meat of the college football season now. As such, this week has seen lots of back and forth between fanbases about which games should be played in each time slot and where College Gameday should be visiting. Ultimately that’s all academic because the Worldwide Leader is gonna do what it’s gonna do.
And what it did was decide to send the College Gameday boys to Athens. Now I know that for many in Dawg Nation, this is a matter of some concern if not downright panic. But allow me to submit... as dominant as the Dawgs have been this year, doesn’t that present a fabulous opportunity to break whatever curse Desmond Howard might bring with him onto campus? I’m as superstitious as the next guy, but I think this just gives the Dawgs a chance to show that the days of being ruled over by curses and jinxes are over.
Alright, that’s enough of that...
Let’s do it!
Your Week 5 College Football TV Schedule >>>> CLICK HERE!!!
And now for my viewing suggestions for each time slot:
THURSDAY
Virginia Cavaliers @ Miami Hurricanes, 7:30 p.m. - ESPN
A Thurday night game not unlike the ACC itself... appealing on the surface, but ultimately inconsequential.
FRIDAY
#5 Iowa Hawkeyes @ Maryland Terrapins, 8:00 p.m. - FS1
Very dangerous game for the Hawkeyes on the road at 4-0 Maryland. Sure it’s the B1G, but two undefeated teams facing off on a Friday night doesn’t exactly happen all the time. Appointment viewing unless you’ve got a hot date or something.
SATURDAY NOON
#8 Arkansas Razorbacks @ #2 Georgia Bulldogs, 12:00 p.m. - ESPN
The time for arguing about what time slot this game should be played in is over. It’s here... and it’s going to be glorious. Now do your part: show up early, be loud, and eat your body weight in pork and pork by-products.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON
#12 Ole Miss Rebels @ #1 Alabama Crimson Tide, 3:30 p.m. - CBS
You may have initially wished that the Dawgs and Hawgs had this slot. As you’re listening to Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling our game instead of Gary Danielson, I suspect that you’ll (to quote Garth Brooks) thank God for unanswered prayers.
SATURDAY EVENING
#21 Baylor Bears @ #19 Oklahoma State Cowboys, 7:30 p.m. - ESPN2
There are a number of ranked SEC teams playing in this timeslot. However, I sometimes find watching what passes for defense in the Big 12 to be a nice palette cleanser.
SATURDAY LATE
Arizona State Sun Devils @ #20 UCLA Bruins, 10:30 p.m. - FS1
As usual, it’s Pac-12 After Dark. Here come the Fightin’ Chip Kellys.
That’s all for now, folks. Let’s get ready for a beautiful midday in the Classic CIty and Between the Hedges.
Until later...
GOOOO DAWGS!!!
