Wednesday ‘Dawg Bites Doesn’t Want to Disturb The Groove

Welcome to Wednesday, Bulldog Fans! We’re not only nearing the 2nd half of the week, but nearing the 2nd month of college football. Autumn weather has dropped faint hints here and there of what’s to come, and Coastal Carolina is the best football team in the Palmetto State. We have players coming back from injury, the Bulldogs are getting all the love they can handle, and the future looks bright. So whatever you were doing, keep doing it. We don’t want to disturb the groove.

Now onto news and notes of the Georgia Bulldog variety.

Head football coach Kirby Smart had a press conference to preview the upcoming top ten matchup versus Arkansas this Saturday. Injuries were top of mind and Coach Smart didn’t exactly give warm and fuzzies about Tykee Smith (looked better on Monday) and Darnell Washington (looked good today). There are no promises we will see them between the lines on Saturday. Hopeful, but not certain. See? This is just what I was saying I didn’t want to hear.

The Red and Black has an excellent piece focusing on the linebacking corps we will see in Athens. Strengths, differences, tendencies, stats, you name it. Well done.

Most folks aren’t happy with the noon kickoff between two top 10 teams in Athens, especially considering GameDay will be on campus and we once again have the eyes of the college football world upon us. And most kinda knew the reasons behind it (hint: $$$). Check out Seth Emerson on the twitter, or you can read the Banner-Herald who laid out essentially the same info.

Do you remember back in February when top 3 defensive tackle recruit Bear Alexander committed to UGA? Do you remember when he decommitted from the Bulldogs back in June? Do you remember the 21st night of September? Forget the last one, just know that Big Bear will be back in Athens on an official visit along with half a dozen other top football recruits. Will the UGA paint line have something special planned?

The folks in Vegas have stuck to their guns so far, as Georgia continues to be an 18.5 point favorite. What I find interesting/comical, is that the over/under in Athens is 48.5 points. Okay, I can buy that with two stout defenses but the potential for explosive plays. The O/U in Tuscaloosa? 78.5. That’s a 40-38 contest. Considering the last two were 63-48 and 59-31 respectively, I get it. But that doesn’t mean Nick Saban isn’t ordering a new Invisalign night mouthpiece for the teethgrinding he’s experiencing.

I don’t know if there’s bad blood between Saban and his wunderkind Lane Kiffin, everyone’s most favorite punchable face. But there’s still plenty of love between Sam Pittman and his former colleagues in Athens as described by this cute little exchange.

That’s all for now, but stick with us through the day for more updates, the TV schedule, and all things Bulldogs. As always...

GO ‘DAWGS!!!
