The Winning Smart Victory Post #55

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Georgia Athens Banner-Herald-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Content Services, LLC

It was a dark and stormy night...

No it wasn’t. Despite the forecast of scattered showers, there was nary a raindrop to be found inside of Sanford Stadium last night. It was, however, one of those hot, muggy late summer evenings that the south is well-known for. There was an occasional delightful breeze, but it didn’t last long enough to keep the Bulldog faithful comfortable. The game, however, was mostly a thing of beauty. Despite losing the turnover margin and the defensive streak of not allowing an offensive touchdown, your Georgia Bulldogs dined on South Carolina chicken Gamecock last night, with a final score of 40-13.

It is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog football wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.

Coach Kirby Smart coached his 69th game tonight for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 55-14 record and a 0.7971 winning percentage, having carded his fifty-fifth win overall over the Gamecocks of USCjr.

At the identical juncture in their careers:

Vince Dooley’s 69th game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs loss to Ole Miss in the fourth game of the 1970 season. Giving Coach Dooley a record of 45-20-4 and 0.6823percentage.

Coach Mark Richt was 56-13 (0.8116) after a win over Colorado.

Sixty-nine games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is one game behind Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 11 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.

As always . . .

Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
