One does not unceremoniously snatch a knot in the South Carolina Gamecocks without having the entire team pull together in the effort. However, even under these circumstances a few players are bound to separate themselves from the pack. These are your MVD’s: the most valuable ‘Dawgs from Georgia’s 40- 13 victory over South Carolina.
Offense: JT Daniels. Daniels looked not even a bit rusty after missing the UAB game with an oblique injury. 23 completions on 31 attempts for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns will win just about every game this season as long as the defense continues to play the way it has thus far.
Defense: Jordan Davis. Statistically the big guy didn’t have that impressive a game. But stat sheets can be misleading. Davis was a serious problem for the interior of the Garnet and Black offensive line all night. Look no further than the play late in the second quarter that resulted in a safety, on which Davis caved in the center, hemmed in Luke Doty, and cleared the way for the ‘Dawgs to get the ball back and put five quick points on the board. There’s just really not an answer for a guy like that.
Special teams: Jack Podlesny. Hot Pod hit 5 of 5 extra points and came on for that hurry up field goal right before the half. It wasn’t a revolutionary performance, but it was quietly consistent. That was enough this week.
Am I Right? Am I wrong? Let me know in the comments. Until later...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
