We’ve finally made it. After a long winter, an even longer spring, and an interminable summer, college football is finally back. Each and every one of you has waited long enough, so I won’t belabor the point. Fire up the grill, break open some cold ones, and get ready to run headfirst through a brick wall for whatever team you support (Unless you’re a Tech fan. In that case, I’m gonna need you to go sit in the corner and think long and hard about how to improve your decision making skils.) With all that said...
Let’s go!
Your Week 1 College Football TV Schedule >>>> CLICK HERE!!!
And now for my viewing suggestions for each time slot:
WEDNESDAY
UAB Blazers vs. Jacksonville St. Gamecocks (Montgomery), 7:30 p.m. - ESPN
Start the week off by scouting Georgia’s Week 2 opponent.
THURSDAY
#4 Ohio State Buckeyes @ Minnesota Golden Gophers, 8:00 p.m. - FOX
Every few years, something weird happens in one of these Week 1 Thursday night games. I’m not sayin’... I’m just sayin’.
FRIDAY
#10 North Carolina Tar Heels @ Virginia Tech Hokies, 6:00 p.m. - ESPN
When I think Friday NIght LIghts, I think the ACC. Tune in to see what Mack Brown has been up to and if the Tar Heels have a shot at making the conference competitive (by ACC standards anyway).
SATURDAY NOON
#19 Penn State Nittany Lions @ #12 Wisconsin Badgers, 12:00 p.m. - FOX
There’s no better way to start off a Saturday afternoon than by watching a game that is sure to remind you of the classic football played in the days of yore. Bonus: You have a pretty solid chance of seeing James Franklin make a fool of himself for the first of what promises to be many times this season.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. #14 Miami Hurricanes (Atlanta). 3:30 p.m. - ABC
I honestly believe this one is probably going to get out of hand fairly early, but you kind of have to tune in for a little bit just to see what Bama looks like to start the 2021 season. When this one loses your interest you could do worse than Louisiana and Texas or Indiana and Iowa on Fox and the B1GNetwork, respectively.
SATURDAY EVENING
#3 Clemson Tigers vs. #5 Georgia Bulldogs (Charlotte), 7:30 p.m. - ABC
The game everyone is waiting to see. The premiere matchup of Week 1. The contest that has acid reflux eating a hole in my esophagus. So all I’ll say is this: We made it through the wilderness... now it’s time to win this damn thing!
SATURDAY LATE
Arizona Wildcats @ BYU Cougars, 10:30 p.m. - ESPN
It’s not Pac-12 After Dark, but it’s as close as you’re going to get this week.
SUNDAY
#9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ Florida State Seminoles, 7:30 p.m. - ESPN
Its time for Notre Dame to reload and Florida State to... I guess, rebuild? It’s still rebuilding when you put up sheet rock and then blow it to smithereens with C4 and then do it all over again, right?
MONDAY
Louisville Cardinals vs. Ole Miss Rebels (Atlanta), 8:00 p.m. - ESPN
Is there anyone who doesn’t wish this was a Bobby Petrino/Lane Kiffin matchup? I mean, I’m sure it’ll be a fine way to cap off your Labor Day, but that would’ve been spectacular.
That’s all for now, folks. Enjoy this weekend’s festivities and just be thankful that real, actual college football has finally returned.
Until later...
GOOOO DAWGS!!!
