Packers make Stokes first ‘Dawg drafted

NCAA Football: Georgia at Missouri Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

It took awhile, but the Georgia Bulldogs broke through late in the first round. Eric Stokes became the first ‘Dawg off the board, going to the Green Bay Packers at #29.

Stokes took the hard route to stardom in a lot of ways. Many thought he was a better track recruit than a football prospect coming out of high school, and he didn’t really earn a commutable offer to Georgia until late I. The recruiting process. He then worked his way up to the starting lineup at corner by the end of his freshman season.

Stokes has the size and speed to play on an island in the NFL. But he’s also still developing as a technician. With his demonstrated work ethic there’s every reason to believe that he could soon fill a key role in and become a favorite of Cheeseheads far and wide. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
