UGA Gymnastics Pulls Out of SECs Due To COVID Protocols

NCAA Gymnastics: Women’s Gymnastics Championships Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Well, there’s no way around it: this stinks.

Georgia has been extremely fortunate to avoid significant loss of competition this academic year due to COVID concerns within UGA’s athletic program. Unfortunately it sounds as if that luck has run out.

To be honest, I’m not even the assistant gymnastics editor. I’m more like the junior assistant to the gymnastics editor. So I’m not 100% sure what this means for Coach Kupets-Carter’s squad and their tenuous hold on regional competition discussed in detail this morning. The statement above makes it sound as if the GymDogs are still focused on hosting the upcoming Athens Regional.

For now, we’d like to wish all affected student-athletes and staff a speedy recovery. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
