The Winning Smart Victory Post #61

NCAA Football: Missouri at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Two weeks ago was perfect football weather. Today was about 10 degrees too cold for me, and the wind was just often enough to remind me. It was the 5th of 6 home games this season, and I was attending my 4th (I was still in Podunk, OK when the UAB game happened) today with my 4th guest – my brother.

As invited, Blooper (the Atlanta Braves mascot) and Joc Pederson attended. UGA honored former Coach Mark Richt (and what a celebration THAT was!) and your Georgia Bulldogs carded their 9th victory of the 2021 season over the Missouri Tigers. That they didn’t cover the spread is a footnote.

However, it is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog Football Wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness or beauty of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.

Coach Kirby Smart coached his 75th game tonight for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 61-14 record and a 0.8133 winning percentage, having carded his sixty-first win overall over the Missouri Tigers.

At the identical juncture in their careers:

Vince Dooley’s 75th game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs loss to the North Avenue Trade School in the tenth game of the 1970 season, giving Coach Dooley a record of 49-22-4 and 0.6800 percentage.

Coach Mark Richt was 58-17 (0.7733) after a loss to Kentucky.

Seventy-five games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is three games ahead of Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 12 games. As of now, he is more than holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.

As always . . .

Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
