Friday Dawg Bites Likes to Drive in its Truck

NCAA Football: Arkansas at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Friday morning. Georgia plays Auburn tomorrow. You’re driving your truck. You like it.

Maestro, the music…

You might think that the only Malzhan residue still remaining in the SEC is Auburn’s 2021 recruiting class, but then you wake up in the early days of October and realize that Georgia plays the Tigers tomorrow.

Yes, it’s barely Fall but it’s still time for the Dawgs and Tigers to lock horns on The Plains. Depending on who you talk to this week, and how much Munson you have in you, Georgia is either walking into a trap or heading down to Auburn to lay a convincing victory on the Tigers. Either way, the Auburn is hoping an electric crowd can have an impact on the game.

For those of you who need to come back down to Earth after UGA started conference play by a 99-0 margin, GlimmerTwin has you covered with the three things that worry him about Auburn. For those of you who are already preparing to drink yourselves into oblivion after a crushing loss to Bo Nix and Bryan Harsin, check out DawgSportsLive. Just be sure to hit the mute button when Josh talks.

I think Auburn could deploy a lot of different tactics on defense tomorrow. I also think that Todd Monken has proven he will take what you give him and go win no matter what. Yeah, Bo Nix channeled his inner Johnny Football a couple times in Baton Rouge. I saw an Auburn team that should have been out of the game at halftime, and a defense that will get road graded if it plays the three-man fronts it did against LSU. That defense has struggled when forced out of loose zones and made to play opponents straight up this season. I also saw a QB who is making a lot of plays that would be turnovers against a good defense. It just so happens that Georgia has a great defense, and it includes Auburn wrecker Adam Anderson.

Speaking of this Georgia defense, CBS put out a mock draft yesterday with 4 Dawgs going in the 1st round. If Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Derion Kendrick, and George Pickens are all picked in round one it’s going to be a tough look for the “Kirby can’t develop” crowd.

As the mock draft shows, UGA’s defense is sure to see some early departures to the NFL after this season, and reloading talent has been a strength of Kirby Smart’s since coming to Georgia. One of the guys who could be next in line to wear the Savage Pads is five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart of South Florida. He was in Athens for the Arkansas game and recapped his experience to DawgNation right here.

Like most Friday’s during game weeks, there’s no a ton of news to share. The talk has been talked, the game plans have been planned, and its almost time to go play football. We do however have one more important note before we go.

Whether you’re traveling to the game or watching from home, we hope you have a great weekend. Until later…

GO DAWGS!
