Wednesday ‘Dawg Bites Has the Will To Power

South Carolina v Georgia Photo by Todd Kirkland/Getty Images

Welcome to Wednesday, Bulldog Fans! And not just any Wednesday, it is only 4 more days until the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. That’s right, the Georgia Bulldogs are heading way down yonder across the Chattahoochee and visiting the dinkiest little suburb of Opelika.

After a heroic effort by Bone X (h/t macondawg) against LSU Saturday night, the Tigers have cemented their starting quarterback and renewed the confidence they can beat anyone. The crowd will be raucous with certainty, and all the pageantry of Jordan-Hare on full display for the visiting Bulldogs. You can also bet CBS will give you plenty of camera angles, especially as their eagle/mascot/PETA project leaps from the upper decks and swoops around the stadium. What can be more majestic and symbolic than a raptor escaping its bonds and soaring towards a predetermined target of raw meat freedom? Free as a bird indeed...

I was alive, sentient, and of reasonable awareness of my surroundings when this was released. Yet for the life of me I didn’t know this existed until recently. Forget the why, I want to know how? There are so many things wrong with this, I don’t know where to start.

Now onto news and notes of the Georgia Bulldog variety:

Injury reports. Your mileage may vary. Dawgnation has a summation of Coach Kirby Smart’s pre-game press conference and he addressed the wide receivers (Rosemy-Jacksaint has the best chance, Blaylock and Smith seem close behind), tight ends (Darnell continues to improve), secondary (Smith seems to be on the cusp of returning), and J. Freakin’ T. Daniels. Start your Twitter war at your own risk.

Speaking of injuries, Auburn seems to have questions about two key players on the defensive side of the ball. Didn’t Pappoe commit to UGA at one point?

Depth. You heard it here first folks. Well, maybe you’ve heard it ad nauseum. And yet it sticks with you longer than gonor..... (the housemother tapped me on the shoulder and told me to quit typing that word)... longer than Jimbo Fisher’s unwarranted contract. The Red and Black compare linebacker corps, which should be key to this Saturday’s contest. And yes, depth could play a big part.

And depth across the board. UGA has received SEC weekly awards at linebacker (Nolan Smith), tight end position (Bowers), wide receiver (Mitchell), defensive secondary (Christopher Smith), defensive line (Davis), even quarterback (Mailman). Now we get into the depth... Devote Wyatt joined Davis as SEC Defensive Linemen of the Week this season.

I couldn’t easily find a link, but you’ve probably heard the news that CBS will be broadcasting the Georgia-Auburn game this Saturday at 3:30 pm ET. And that Aaron Murray will be one of the color analysts on the broadcast. I still have involuntary twitches thinking about Aaron Murray at Jordan-Hare. If a case of indigestion hits a certain former Auburn defensive lineman, I won’t lose a wink of sleep.

You don’t really need news. You need Munson. And Uga on the sideline going after Robert Baker. You need Baccari Rambo laying the lumber. You need Michael Johnson highpointing the ball in the back of the end zone. You need to embrace the rivalry. And embrace this being the oldest rivalry of football teams in the southern United States, one of which is Clemson without a lake. And as always...

GO ‘DAWGS!!!!
