Winning Smart Victory Post #57

NCAA Football: Georgia at Vanderbilt Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Another Noon game, and Coach Smart exhorted the fans to be ELITE during his post-Vanderbilt press conference. He promised a heckuva show, and boy, did he deliver. Arkansas’ Trelon Smith retweeted Nolan Smith’s promise that not even the New England Patriots would enter the Bulldog end zone, but added laughing emoticons.

Needless to say, things didn’t work out the way the Razorback running back expected. In fact, FIVE UGA players exceeded Trelon’s 4 yards, including Stetson Bennett. To give credit where credit is due, Trelon took to Twitter again after the game..

This young man is a class act.

UGA took the lead early and never relinquished it, and even special teams scored for the first time since 2015. (Note to self: noon games require more sunscreen)

It is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog football wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness or beauty of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.

Coach Kirby Smart coached his 71st game tonight for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 57-14 record and a 0.8028 winning percentage, having carded his fifty-seventh win overall over the Sam Pittman-coached Arkansas Razorbacks.

At the identical juncture in their careers:

Vince Dooley’s 71st game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs win over Kentucky in the sixth game of the 1970 season, giving Coach Dooley a record of 47-20-4 and 0.7015 percentage.

Coach Mark Richt was 57-14 (0.8028) after a loss to Tennessee.

Seventy-one games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is even with Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 10 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.

As always . . .

Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
