MVDs: Arkansas Edition

NCAA Football: Arkansas at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

You don’t notch a five touchdown, shut out win against the top 10 SEC West opponent without a total team effort. But even then, you’re going to need a few players to truly step it up. Those elite contributors are you’re in the D’s, the most valuable dogs from George’s 37–0 when Over Arkansas.

Offense: Zamir White. White didn’t lead the Bulldog tailbacks in rushing yards, but he had some of the toughest yards, grinding out 4.3 per carry on 16 attempts and punching in two rushing touchdowns. Obviously he also scored the day’s only special teams touchdown, which perhaps shouldn’t count in this category, but is worth at least a bonus point.

Defense: Nakobe Dean. It’s been awhile since Georgia has had a pass rusher as physically gifted and technically proficient as Dean. Today he added 1.5 more sacks to his season total, and generally harassed a hobbled KJ Jefferson into futility.

Special teams: Dan Jackson. The walk-on from Gainesville blocked the punt Zamir White jumped on to officially begin the rout. Sam Pittman fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is to never get involved in a land war in Asia. But a close second is to never lose track of “Dangerous Dan” when the game is on the line.
