Dear readers, you find yourself at this moment squarely on the cusp of an actual college football Saturday. There are multiple college football games pitting actual Division I college football teams against each other on the field of play.

To paraphrase Larry Munson, I didn’t think we’d get here. Neither did you. And I’m about to crash through my chair with excitement.

RedCrake already teed up the full schedule for the day here. But things get started with the Eastern Kentucky Colonels traveling to Huntington, West Virginia to take on the Marshall Thundering herd at 1:00 eastern on ESPN. That will be followed at 4:30 by a Lone Star State showdown between the SMU Mustangs and the Texas State Bobcats at 4:30. If you have CBS Sports Network, I’d recommend checking out their 1:30 game between Middle Tennessee State and Army.

But the best game in this slate to my eye is the nightcap between Bulldog favorites Arkansas State and the Memphis Tigers. Memphis returns a lot from a team that won the AAC and played in the Cotton Bowl in 2019. Arkansas State is looking to establish itself as a contender in the Sun Belt. Both teams score points by the bushel. You could do a lot worse things as your evening winds down than sip a cold beverage and watch these two teams duke it out.

We’ll be continuing some of our marathon 2020 UGA preview coverage through the day, but this will be the hub for the college football that’s being played right now, our virtual tailgate for the day. Until later . . .

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
