Happy Friday Dawg Nation! We are one Friday closer to that glorious Saturday in Fayetteville, Arkansas when the Dawgs will kickoff the 2020 campaign against old friend Sam Pittman. After seeing two real life football games last night with fans, I am VERY ready for the weekend of September 26th.
It’s still unknown who the starting quarterback for Georgia will be in the opener, as discussed yesterday. However, here is one name that won’t be the starter: Justin Fields. Saw on Twitter that you can search for “Justin Skyler Fields” in the UGA directory and our old friend pops up. You know who else’s names show up? JJ Holloman, as well as a whole host of former players. Folks, Georgia does not scrub that database with light speed. Plus, the season starts in three weeks. That would not leave a lot of time for a new QB to come in, learn the playbook, find chemistry with the receivers, and be ready to start September 26th.
UGA, though, did receive recent news that they will be getting a new player. Marlin Dean, a three-star DT who plays his high school ball at IMG Academy, re-committed to the Bulldogs after initially de-committing on July 18th. DT is one of those positions you can never have enough bid bodies, and we have a good recent history of coaching up three-star DTs (see: Davis, Jordan).
Moving from the players to the coaches, it is still the pre-season, so that means pre-season “Watchlists” are still a thing. Kirby Smart has been included in the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Watchlist. This shouldn’t come as a surprise – Dawgs are quite victorious when it comes to things named after the former Georgia Tech coach.
Next up, we havHAHAHA sorry, I can’t help myself. Here is another reminder that Georgia has not lost to Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium in this millennium. Nor have our most recent two head coaches lost at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

PGA golfer, UGA alumnus, and all-around swell dude Kevin Kisner also loves to poke fun at the Yellow Jackets. See below for his comments at the Tour Championship.

Have a great long weekend, Dawg Nation. Stay safe, Mask Up, and GO DAWGS!!!
