Following the winter of our discontent (and then the spring of our discontent and the summer of our discontent), the day has finally arrived. Morning has broken across Georgia and the rest of the college football landscape and we will finally embrace all the joys and anxieties of a normal college football Saturday... or at least what qualifies as normal nowadays. If you’re anything like me you’ve made the proper preparations. The bourbon stockpile is replenished, raw meats are rubbed or marinated and prepared for cooking on open or indirect heat, and various snacks and appetizers are on the menu.

Most weeks of the season, I spend a pretty substantial amount of time selecting the soundtrack for the gameday morning post. But, as usual, my very first selection was a simple one. Let’s go!

And now for your Gameday Morning Dawg Bites:

  • In case you missed it, we’re gonna kick things off with the always amazing work of the hype-trailer wizards of @GeorgiaFootball:
  • Those of you who’ve been around Dawg Sports for any length of time know that I love a good narrative-driven player profile. So here you go. If D’Wan Mathis has any kind of success against Arkansas today, expect to see another couple dozen of these by Monday.
  • And speaking of profiles, let’s make sure new Arkansas HC Sam Pittman gets his due. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing Coach Pittman nothing but success... after around 7:30 pm tonight. He’s gonna need all the positive vibes he can get.
  • Dawgs247 brings us a breakdown of developments along Georgia’s O-line.
  • As the developing QB situation plays out, it’s fun to get the perspective of some former Dawgs. It seems D’Wan Mathis has D’Andre Swift’s endorsement.
  • In “Dawgs in the NFL” news, Natrez Patrick has been moved from the practice squad onto the roster for the LA Rams.

And that’s it! This is also your Gameday Morning Open Comment Thread. Share your “tailgating” plans (such as they are), your thoughts on today’s games, and rejoice in the company of your fellow Dawg Sports commenters. Macondawg will be along later with a comment thread for the day’s other games and, of course, the contest between our Georgia Bulldogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Until then...
