Beyond The Hedges: Soccer leads return to play

University of Georgia Sports Communications

Any win is special especially over an SEC foe.

For women’s soccer, Sunday’s win over South Carolina was that and more.

Sure, Abby Boyan’s goal notched the win, but even bigger was that it was the first time in play for a Georgia team since March 11 due to the COVID-19 delay.

Boyan was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for Georgia, which is ranked eighth nationally.

Georgia plays at Florida on Sunday.

Georgia’s cross country squads were set to host the Bulldog Invitational last weekend, but it was rained out. Its next meet is Oct. 2 at Florida State.

Other fall sports will also join in as their return to action gets going with men’s and women’s tennis and golf set to return to play next weekend,as well.
