These days we can all use as much good news as we can get, whether big or small.
The good news Kirby Smart got today was of the big variety.
Camden County offensive lineman Micah Morris picked the Red and Black today over fellow finalists Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina. Offensive line was a big need for Georgia in this cycle, and Morris is among the top three or four targets up front. The 6’5, 320 pound South Georgia standout is ranked the #11 offensive tackle in the nation in the 247Sports Composite, the #7 player in the state of Georgia, and one of the top 100 in the nation.
While Morris is ranked as a tackle I think he could kick inside in college to work primarily as a guard. He’s a massive young man.
This is where I point out Matt Luke isn’t exactly a small man and you go “woah.” https://t.co/NbehdkcJVn

Morris is really thick through the upper body and it will be interesting to see just how big he gets. That may be the determining factor in what position he ultimately plays.
While he has a little bit of a “skip” in his stride, Morris is solidly mobile for a player of his size. Camden County faces some of the toughest high school competition in the country in region 1-AAAAAAA, as well as a tough non-region schedule. During his junior season Morris played consistently solid football against that high level competition.
While he gets a little lazy with his pad level at times, Morris has great upper body strength for a young lineman. He doesn’t lose battles once he gets his hands on a defender. He looks a lot more comfortable as a run blocker at this point, and doesn’t have great left tackle-type hip flexibility in pass protection. But Morris looks like a definite contender for early playing time if he continues to hone his technique over the next fourteen months before arriving in Athens.
Morris’s pledge moves Georgia up to #14 in the 2021 247Sports rankings, which is deceptively low given that the ‘Dawgs have only five commitments, the fewest of any team in the top 15. Count on Kirby Smart and his staff to once again start tacking in four and five star recruits over the coming months. Morris is part of a stellar class of prospects in the Peach State that will serve as the nucleus of a class of 22-24 players that should once again be in the top five in the country. Until later...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
