NCAA Basketball: Georgia at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

So, it happened again. Georgia surrendered a 22 point second half lead to fall on the road in Gainesville tonight. I’d like to point out the positives. Like Anthony Edwards scoring 32 points against a good Florida squad. But watching the Gators go on a 37-7 run to pull out an 81-75 victory has robbed me of all basketball positivity at the moment. So forget that but you read about Anthony Edwards. Bad. It’s all bad.

This basketball game was like the Upside Down version of football Signing Day. The Gators closed with a clutch effort. Georgia managed to blow a 20+ point lead for the second time in less than a week. That’s just bad and there’s no way to sugarcoat it. This team needs to develop the mental toughness to play a full game. It needs some leaders to step up and make plays to stop the bleeding before it becomes a mortal wound.

They’ll get their next chance to do so on Saturday evening back in Stegeman Coliseum against Alabama. Reasonably priced tickets are still available and the Tide are themselves coming off three straight frustrating losses.

Somebody is going to have to win. My guess is the team that’s trailing at halftime. Until later....

Go ‘Dawgs???
