Thursday ‘Dawg Bites: Recruiting, Roundball, and ‘Dore Jams

NCAA Basketball: North Georgia at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Top of the morning to you, Dawg Sports reader.

This morning we’ve got recruiting news, a Bulldog basketball victory, and, who knows, maybe even a college football game.

The Bulldogs got some good news on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Tift County defensive lineman Tyre West for the class of 2022. The 6’3, 280 pound junior is rated the #4 defensive tackle in the nation and the #5 player in the state of Georgia. It’s the fourth 2022 commitment for the Bulldogs, all from within the Peach State, and all of them ranked inside or near 247Sports’ top 100 prospects in the country.

Tom Crean’s Hoop Hounds notched a solid win against North Georgia in a game scheduled less than three days before it actually occurred. Sahvir Wheeler once again scored a double double as the ‘Dawgs moves to 2-0 on the season. They’ll face Jacksonville on Friday night at 7:00 in Athens.

Coach Taylor’s women’s team will be in action today in Greenville against East Carolina, also sporting an early 2-0 record.

Ahead of Saturday’s scheduled football game our friends at Anchor of Gold are covering the Dores’ search to replace Derek Mason, focusing on a Vanderbilt alum who has his team in the College Football Playoff race.

The Banner Herald has a solid list of things you need to know ahead of Saturday, including Kirby Smart pumping the brakes on the Arian Smith hype train, and a look at Bulldog underclassmen who may be playing their last game between the hedges. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
