Mornin’ Dawg Nation. It’s not a good morning seeing as the Dawgs can’t play this weekend, as they have been unable to find a replacement team for Vanderbilt for Senior Day.
However, news as come down that the Georgia seniors may still get their day. Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan has said that if Georgia is selected for the Peach Bowl, the UGA seniors could be honored ahead of the bowl game in Atlanta. This is an extremely classy gesture from the CEO of Georgia’s most probably bowl game.
Some seniors, though, will not be participating in whichever bowl game Georgia plays in. Tight end Tre McKitty, linebacker Monty Rice, and defensive back DJ Daniel have all opted out of Georgia’s bowl game. Look, I am fine with any player opting out of a non-Playoff bowl game. They have given everything for the program, and if they believe that sitting out a bowl game is the best decision for their future, I 100% support them. Plus, I am excited to see some younger players get some reps before what could be a special 2021 season.
The Bulldogs will also be without two of their analysts. Southern miss has hired Georgia special teams analyst Greg Meyer to be their special teams coach and Georgia defensive quality control analyst Dan O’Brien to be their safeties coach. This is a big promotion for both men who have earned on-field coaching roles. Congrats to both.
As always - wash your hands, wear your masks, and GO DAWGS!!!
