Well....here we go again.
One SEC game down this week: Ole Miss at Texas A&M postponed because of quarantine impact at Texas A&M, which has another game "tentatively" scheduled for Dec. 12. So that's a candidate to be played on Dec. 19.— Seth Emerson (@SethWEmerson) November 16, 2020
Keith Carter said they will find out by 8 p.m. tonight whether they might play either LSU or Mississippi State this weekend. That would hinge on either Georgia or Arkansas being unable to play this weekend.— Jake Thompson (@JakeThompsonOE) November 16, 2020
He also noted the last four weeks are going to be very "fluid."
Kirby Smart sounded pretty optimistic today that the Bulldogs will in fact be playing Mike Leach’s Mississippi State team this weekend in Athens. The Dread Pirate himself appears to be laboring under the same assumption.
Miss State coach Mike Leach says his team is preparing to play Georgia on Saturday. Asks media to alert him if they hear differently.— Brandon Zimmerman (@BZSEC) November 16, 2020
But that’s entirely subject to change, as with everything else in college football in 2020.
But it sounds an awful lot like Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter is banking on either Georgia or Arkansas being unable to field a team this weekend, providing the Rebels a surprise opponent. Arkansas, whose head coach Sam Pittman is slated to return from quarantine on Wednesday, had last week’s game against Auburn postponed due to COVID issues among the Plainsmen.
If I were betting, I’d bet that Georgia remains able to play and the Rebs get LSU rather than a surprise Egg Bowl. But if that changes, we’ll be on top of it. Until later...
