With Week 3 of the SEC schedule upon us, the league is in full swing and we are starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Before yet another big showdown Between the Hedges, let’s look around the league and see who is making headlines.
Here’s what’s happening around the SEC:
· Florida wide receiver Jordan Pouncey has received his waiver to play immediately after transferring from Texas. This comes on the heals of former five-start running back Demarckus Bowman electing to transfer to the Gators. Their loaded offense gets even deeper, but this still doesn’t help their defense which is allowing 29.5 points per game.
· Mississippi State coach Mike Leach expects star running back Kylin Hill to suit up and play this weekend against Kentucky after suffering a back injury in the Bulldogs’ loss to Arkansas.
· With Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss taking on Alabama this weekend, here is an article reminiscing about the great, and wild, times shared between Kiffin and Nick Saban when the former was Saban’s offensive coordinator.
· LSU has removed CDC wellness checks for fans entering Tiger Stadium. Additionally, LSU has resumed alcohol sales in Tiger Stadium.
· With Hurricane Delta bearing down on the Gulf Coast, there is concern over this weekend’s SEC games. This will be something that will be heavily monitored all week, and some games could end up looking like the Georgia-Kentucky game from 2019 that was played in a torrential downpour and featured a combined 52 yards passing.
Until next week - wash your hands, wear your masks, and GO DAWGS!!!
