Kirby Smart Postgame: Pleased with a win, but sloppy play “left points on the field.”

NCAA Football: Auburn at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Kirby Smart was pleased with the atmosphere, pleased with the win, and even pleased with the weather tonight during his postgame press conference.

But he wasn’t pleased with everything. In fact, the head ‘Dawg noted that his team probably isn’t either as bad in the aggregate as they looked against Arkansas or as good as they looked tonight. Smart noted that Georgia left some points on the field and played sloppy defensively at times, especially on third downs. And while he was pleased that the offensive line cut down on last week’s prodigious penalty production, he still thought there were to darn many. Among other topics of conversation:

  • Stetson Bennett’s soon-to-be legendary confidence, and the importance of him taking all the second team reps in 2019 behind Jake Fromm.
  • How Todd Monken’s NFL experience may have cleared the way for Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter to clear the way for Zamir White.
  • A very reassuring injury report.
  • The Bulldog offensive, the Wizard of Oz, and you. And also penalties.
  • Why everyone needs a Kearis Jackson of their very own.
  • Execution of the offense beating evolution of the offense.

As always you can listen to the full presser below. Good night, and...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
