It’s Halloween weekend, Dawg Nation, and it feels so weird to not be playing in Jacksonville. Oh well. In all honesty, after the struggles two weeks ago against Bama, it may not be a bad thing to get a game in against Kentucky, who is a very good team but for a tier or two below Florida, prior to the Cocktail Party.
Speaking of the Wildcats, Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson is out due to a wrist injury. Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood is slated to make his first start against the number #1 ranked defense in the SEC.
As for the Georgia quarterback situation, the national media is openly and loudly questioning Kirby Smart regarding his stance of starting Stetson Bennett IV over J.T. Daniels. We’ve talked ad nauseum about the QB room at UGA, so we won’t get into it too much, however, if, and it’s clearly a big if, Daniels is truly healthy, I would love to at least see what he’s got. I still think we can win and win a lot with The Mailman, but Daniels’ pedigree would lead you to believe he has something extra in the tank.
In future Georgia QB news, five-star commit Brock Vandagriff was honored as an All-American by the All-American Bowl. Vandagriff is talented enough to push for the starting job immediately when he steps foot on campus in January.
Let’s get a bounce back win against Kentucky up in Lexington. I’m excited to see a dominant defense and intrigued by what changes have been made on offense, both in terms of philosophy and personnel. As always - wash your hands, wear your masks, and GO DAWGS!!!
