Aaaaaaaand we’re off! The 2019 season is underway and, man, it feels good. Well, for some teams it does. We’ll get into that in a bit.

There was A LOT of talk about the SEC after week 1, per usual. Some good, some bad, some ugly. Let’s catch you up on all of this news.

Here’s what’s happening around the SEC:

  • Tennessee paid Georgia State $950,000 to beat them at home.
  • South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley suffered a foot sprain in the Gamecocks’ loss to North Carolina and is expected to miss 4-8 weeks. True freshman quarterback Ryan Hilinski well step in as the new starter.
  • In positive news for the SEC, Auburn came storming back to beat Oregon 27-21 behind true freshman quarterback Bo Nix. This led to Auburn vaulting into the top 10 in the latest AP Poll.
  • Texas A&M lineman Jared Hocker is guaranteeing a victory over #1 Clemson on Saturday. Well, he actually said “There will be an upset.” Regardless, that’s a bold strategy, Cotton.
  • After entering the transfer portal last week, Mississippi State quarterback Keytaon Thompson has decided to stay at Mississippi State, providing needed depth behind starter Tommy Stevens.

Until next time… GO DAWGS!!!
