Georgia has navigated the first part of their schedule to a 4-0 record heading into the first bye week. The Dawgs have two weeks to prepare for the Tennessee Volunteers, and UGA fans can relax this week knowing that there is no game on Saturday.
However, the other 13 teams in the SEC are still making headlines.
Here’s what’s happening around the SEC:
- Alabama has flipped the #1 dual-threat quarterback from USC to Tuscaloosa. Bryce Young, the #4 ranked overall recruit in 2020, will look to take over as Alabama quarterback next season after Tua Tagovailoa inevitably turns pro. The rich get richer.
- South Carolina defensive back Jamyest Williams has entered the transfer portal. You may recognize that name – Williams was a top 100 recruit out of Grayson High School in 2017 who that Dawgs wanted badly. Maybe a reunion is in store?
- Two Tennessee players have entered the transfer portal. Inside linebackers Will Ignont and Shannon Reid, both juniors, will look to redshirt the rest of the 2019 season and play their 2020 campaigns elsewhere. Ignont started the first two games of the season and recording 16 tackles thus far in 2019. Reid has seen the field in every game either on defense or special teams.
- Ole Miss true freshman John Rhys Plumlee is getting the first team reps at quarterback in practice this week ahead of the Rebels’ game against Alabama after QB Matt Corral suffered bruised ribs in the Rebels’ previous game. You may also recognize his name as well – Plumlee was a longtime UGA recruit before flipping his commitment to the Rebels.
Until next time… GO DAWGS!!!
