Maestro, the music:
During the next few weeks we’ll be stepping up our previews of the upcoming college football season, with in-depth analysis of Bulldog opponents, position break downs, and some predictions for how things will turn out when the curtain falls on 2019.
But the truth is....we have no idea what’s going to happen. That’s one of the best things about college football: its utter unpredictability.
I mean, we’re fairly certain that Clemson will be very good while the rest of the ACC is somewhere between pedestrian and pathetic. And Alabama should be okay, too.
Past that, hey, who knows? But I have a couple of ideas about teams to keep an eye on, and which ones may disappoint.
Tom Herman’s Texas has flaming ball of disappointment written all over it. Hyped returning quarterback? Check. Sky high expectations following a bowl win? Check. Sell hard on the ‘Horns.
Who worries me a little? Auburn. The Wartiglesmen return over 100 combined starts on the offensive line and multiple All-SEC candidates on the defensive front. Particularly under Gus Malzahn, Aubbie is dangerous when they have talent up front.
Another team I don’t think is going to win the SEC but will be better than expected? South Carolina. Will Muschamp has actually accumulated a respectable amount of talent in Columbia. Sadly for him a brutal schedule may still yield an 8-4 season.
Got any thoughts on who will surprise or disappoint this year in college football? Want to eschew that topic entirely to talk barbecue recipes? Feel free to do either in the comments below, and....
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
