It’s preseason award watch list time, and as one would expect it looks like the Georgia Bulldogs will be well-represented.
First out of the gate with their list of players to watch? The Maxwell Award committee, which at the end of the year will present its trophy to the best player in college football. Among the preseason nominees are quarterback Jake Fromm and tailback D’Andre Swift.
Fromm returns for his third season under center in Athens with a record of 23-5 as a starter. His 5376 passing yards place him seventh all-time in UGA history immediately behind Mike Bobo (6334) and Quincy Carter (6447). Fromm already sits fourth all-time in Bulldog history in touchdown passes with 54 through two seasons.
Swift is the presumptive starter in a deep, talented Red and Black backfield. In 2018 he led the team in rushing with 1049 yards despite being hampered in the early going by injuries. The Philadelhia native is also the Bulldogs’ leading returning receiver, a fact which is totally fine and doesn’t make us even a little bit nervous. Until later...
