Additional early season kickoff times announced

‘‘Dawgs will Open 2019 under the lights

NCAA Football: Vanderbilt at Georgia Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs will open the 2019 season at 7:30 pm against Vanderbilt in Nashville before returning home for a couple of sweltering afternoon games.

In addition to the August 31st Vanderbilt tilt (which will air on SEC Network), it was announced today that the Red and Black will take on Murray State on September 7th at 4:00 pm on ESPN2. The ‘Dawgs will host Arkansas State the following Saturday at noon, either on ESPN or ESPN2.

None of this is particularly surprising, though it’s a little surprising to see the Murray State game on The Dos while a divisional game to open the season gets relegated to SEC Network. But a lot of this depends on what other games are available that week, so it’s not that shocking. You should all have plenty of time to hit the pedal tavern before kickoff in front of a raucous night crowd at Vandy.

I would also note that the Red Wolves of Arkansas State (8-5 in 2018) could be a sneaky tough matchup for a noon kick with Notre Dame looming the next week. We’ll learn a little about the mental makeup of this UGA team from how they handle that. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!
