Recruits react to big weekend in Athens

NCAA Football: Georgia Spring Game Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

As usual the UGA staff rolled out the red and black carpet yesterday at G Day for some of their top recruiting priorities.

Several of those priority targets appear to have had a great time in the Classic City.

Five star Washington DC outside linebacker Mekhail Sherman has been trending toward Athens for a while now.

Sherman joined a couple of other five star recruits in talking about what it would be like to play in the Classic City.

Five star Marietta tight end Arik Gilbert, considered by many a strong Bulldog lean, is worried about the consequences of that much star power in one place. Very thoughtful.

Recent four star cornerback commit Jalen Kimber was joined by several good friends, including (left to right) fellow four star defensive back Dwight McGlothern, five star tailback Kendall Milton, five star offensive tackle Paris Johnson, Jr., Texas offensive lineman and recent UGA commit Akinola Ogunbiyi, Kimber, five star Arizona cornerback Kelee Ringo, and four star UGA quarterback commit Carson Beck.

Finish with the guys in this picture and you’re well on the way to a top three recruiting class.

The nation’s #2 tailback, California Kendall Milton, not only seemed to have a good visit, but also appears happy for Ogunbiyi on his UGA commit.

Four star Charlotte (Mallard Creek) outside linebacker Trenton Simpson already looks like an SEC player, and also looks good in red and black.

It wasn’t just 2020 recruits in town, either. 2021 Hart County tight end Cane Berrong, already the top rated junior at his position, made it to town to hang out with Coach Todd Hartley.

Massive Bleckley County offensive tackle Amarius Mims is 247’s early top player in the state of Georgia for 2021. And the 6’7, 300 sophomore (!) enjoyed some quality time with his high school coach and Coach Pittman.

6’2, 185 pound Woodstock safety David Daniel is a likely national top 100 player for the 2021 class as well, and again enjoyed his time in Athens.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
