Georgia needed to address the wide receiver position in this class and has done so in a big way, capped by the commitment of Calabasas, California receiver Jermaine Burton.
Calling Burton, the #8 wide receiver and #52 player in the country, a California prospect is slightly misleading since he played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Hapeville Charter and is a Peach State native.
Burton is physical in traffic and has strong hands which he uses to win contested balls. That physicality translates over to his blocking, which is very good for an elite pass catcher.
At 6’0, 190 pounds Burton has the size/speed to play any receiver slot in the Bulldog offense. I could see him as the swing player in a package with speed demon Arian Smith and big receivers Justin Robinson and Marcus Rosemy. These are my dreams. Let me have them. Burton could also be a contributor in the return game if necessary.
Burton had actually been committed to LSU since April, but now joins a line of decommits and flips on what has been a pretty awful Signing Day for Ed Orgeron. His loss, our gain. Until later...
