The Early National Signing Day dawns with your Georgia Bulldogs staked to 16 commitments. They’re expected to add as many as nine more now that it’s becoming clearer that the Red and Black may experience a bit more attrition this offseason than expected.
A couple of the biggest targets remaining on the board will not be announcing their intentions today. Arizona cornerback Kelee Ringo and Las Vegas tight end Darnell Washington are both rated five star, national top twenty prospects and both have decided to make their intentions known at their all star game in January.
A few players nominally committed to the ‘Dawgs have also elected to put off signing until February. Five star offensive tackle Broderick Jones continues to be courted by Auburn and will likely visit the Tigers and Bulldogs before signing in February. Center/guard Sedrick Van Pran will be taking official visits to Georgia and LSU before a final decision. And defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse plans official visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Tennessee before signing on the dotted line.
But there remain plenty of announcements today of interest to Bulldog fans. The ones we know about are these (all times eastern).
9:00 am: QB Carson Beck. The Bulldog commit is expected to sign and be in Athens in time to take part in Bowl practice.
12:30 pm: QB C.J. Stroud. The California signal caller has gotten a lot of attention from Bulldog coaches looking to add another quarterback to the class to address uncertainty at the position. He still appears likely to sign with Ohio State, but you can never count Kirby out.
12:30 pm OT Chad Lindberg. The four star Texan is set to become a part of the 2020 class with a ceremony at his high school.
1:00 pm WR Arian Smith. One of the fastest players in the class of 2020, the Lakeland, Florida standout will pick from among the Dawgs, Alabama, Florida, and Oklahoma.
2:00 pm: DE Jordan Burch. Another of the coveted five star recruits left on the board will choose from among Georgia, LSU, Clemson, and South Carolina.
3:30 pm: WR Jermaine Burton. Burton played his final season of high school football in California but is a Georgia native. He’s committed to LSU at the moment but Georgia hasn’t given up the pursuit.
4:00 DB Eric Reed. The 6’1, 197 pound Louisiana four star will choose from among Georgia, LSU, Auburn and a host of others this afternoon.
There also also a handful of Bulldog commits who haven’t announced a specific time so far as I know (chime in below if you have up-to-date info). And thanks to a flurry of late in-state offers to players like Parkview’s Kobe Wilson and Irwin County’s DJ Lundy, this Signing Day has the potential to be a wild one.
So buckle up. It’s gonna be a heckuva day.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
