UGAprrthd's WEEK 10 TOP ELEVEN

Not a lot of shake-up happening in the UGA Parrothead Top 11. Why is that you ask. Part of the reason is only 11 of the AP top 25 played this week and with the exception of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, there were ZERO head to head match-ups between ranked teams. Not the best weekend of college football, UNLESS you are a GEORGIA BULLDOG. More on that later as I blast them into my #1 slot…I kid.

1. LSU. No one played that had a chance o knocking LSU out of this spot…They are still here. Next week tells the tale for the SEC West. If LSU wins, they control the west and with Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas A&M remaining should be able to cruise into Atlanta.

2. Alabama. Basically take the above paragraph and replace "Alabama" where you see "LSU". With one exception, the IRON BOWL lurks on the horizon against what I hope is the best 3-loss team in the nation (after Bama dispenses them 4-loss).

3. Ohio State. Still the most complete team in my opinion, except at QB. Kinda like my fantasy football team, one bad hit at the QB and we are scratching our heads. Chase Young is still my choice for Heisman…was off this week and really have Byes the next 2 weeks (Maryland and Butch Jones’ next debacle Rutgers) before being tested by Penn State and Michigan.

4. Penn State. Still better than Clemson in my opinion. Not the easiest road to the B1G Championship…Next week undefeated Minnesota and OSU a few weeks after. Or those like me who love chaos…Minnesota beats Penn, Minnesota drops a game against Iowa or Wisconsin, Penn State beats OSU. Lower Ranked Minnesota beats Penn State in the Championship…mmmmmm CHAOS.

5. Clemson. STILL the most undeserving ranking in the poll. Why are they here? They are defending champions and there is not a chance in Hades that the selection committee leaves out the ACC and the PAC-whatever. The performance against Wofford was dominating, but it was still Woffard.

6. Georgia. The anti-UGA Network (aka ESPN) will not paint it in this way, but UGA dominated the slime lizards from the Sunshine State. Florida was averaging 409 yds/game, UGA held them to 278 (21 yards on 19 carries RUSHING). Florida was averaging 30.8 points per game and UGA throttled that production to 17 (lowest of the year for the Gators). It was a very defensive game, but remember thanks to boneheaded plays by an unnamed player two TDs by UGA were erased. UGA should be in control of the East, but they get to beat on Auburn and soften them up for Bama. Not guaranteed in Atlanta, but looks the best in the East

7. Oregon. Two things are hurting Oregon in my rankings…the Auburn loss is not aging well and the PAC-12 should not be considered a Power 5 any longer. If UCLA wins out they will be in the PAC Championship with FIVE losses (probably be Utah, but imagine).

8. Baylor. BAYLOR Baylor Baylor. I wanted to jump you into 7th, but a SLOPPY 3-point victory over West Virginia. 4 fumbles and 3 of those lost. Thankfully WVU helped you out with a lost fumble and interception. Not an easy remaining schedule (TCU, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas remain), but please keep winning. You fit into my desire for CHAOS.

9. Oklahoma. Off this week, but Kansas State helped you out yesterday. A dominant victory over Kansas made your loss to K State look a little less ugly.

10. Minnesota. 10 an 11 were head scratchers for me this week, Florida’s exposure kept them out of my rankings plus dropped Auburn below he top 11. Minnesota is undefeated, but has played no one except for Georgia Southern, who beat TENNESSEE and Appalachian State…Minnesota beat the Eagles by 3. Tougher road ahead will prove if they belong in this ranking…Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin are 3 of last 4 games in the regular season.

11. Utah. Much like Minnesota, I have not paid a lot of attention to Utah this season and there I a good reason, the schedule is horrible. Not a single currently ranked team on it to date and not any on the horizon.

Additional meanderings: With the losses by Appalachian State and SMU, it appears that the only hope for a NY-6 for the Group of 5 may be lie with the Bearcats of Cincinnati, possibly Memphis.

Notre Dame proves once again they HATE UGA. Last Weeks humiliating loss to Michigan and the struggle bus win this week against the Hokies are doing UGA ZERO favors.
