Georgia Overview

Georgia suffered their first loss against an SEC East team since 2016 when they fell to South Carolina 20-17 in double overtime. The Dawgs wholeheartedly deserved to lose that game, gifting the ball numerous times to the Gamecocks and playing poor special teams.

The Georgia offense was the most concerning side of the ball. The gameplan was predictable and stubborn, and we lacked the capability to make any in-game adjustments. I never thought I’d say this, but the Dawgs miss Jim Chaney. Kirby and Coley must go back to the drawing board and make changes to this offensive scheme, or the Dawgs could easily lose 2-3 more games due to their ineptitude to call a sound offensive game.

Kirby is a great recruiter, but he is showing some deficiencies with calling games too conservatively. It’s 2019, and our offense and in-game management must get with the times.

Georgia takes on Kentucky this Saturday evening, and I hope we don’t come out flat once again.

Movers

Fell Out: #19 Wake Forest, #20 Virginia, #23 Memphis, #24 Texas A&M

Newcomers: #20 Minnesota, #22 Missouri, #24 Appalachian State, #25 Washington

Overrated

#25 Washington. The Huskies have two mediocre losses. Tulane is undefeated. The Green Wave should’ve slipped in at #25.

Underrated

#15 Texas. The Longhorns suffered their second loss of the season, but both of their losses were respectable, hard-fought games against LSU and Oklahoma. They’ll press both teams more than almost anyone else in the country, and I’d expect them to finish the season in the top 10.

This Week’s Top 25 Matchups

#12 Oregon at #25 Washington

#17 Arizona State at #13 Utah

#16 Michigan at #7 Penn State

Upset Alert

Last week, I got the Red River Shootout wrong. This week, I’m taking BYU to beat Boise State. However, I also do not believe Ohio State will cover the 25.5 point spread at Northwestern on Friday night. Weekday night games are as weird as #Pac12AfterDark, and Northwestern won’t get blown out.
