Riley Ridley to turn pro, forego senior season

NCAA Football: SEC Championship-Alabama vs Georgia Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

One’s an event, two’s a trend.

Riley Ridley joined fellow junior Bulldog Isaac Nauta today in declaring his intent to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. The move did not come as a surprise in part due to Ridley’s NFL pedigree (his brother Calvin left Alabama last year, was drafted in the first round, and has enjoyed an outstanding rookie year with the Falcons).

But the younger Ridley’s production and athletic ability make him an NFL prospect in his own right. Ridley’s national coming out party and when he led all receivers with 6 catches for 89 yards against Alabama in last year’s title game. The Deerfield Beach, Florida native followed that up by leading the Red and Black in receptions (44), yards (570), and receiving touchdowns (9) in 2018.

At 6’2, 200 pounds Ridley is a solid route runner, has excellent hands, and is an excellent blocker. I expect he’ll draw early interest from NFL teams contingent on a solid combine performance. Go get ‘em, Riley. And...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
