Georgia continues grueling early slate, hosting Kentucky

NCAA Basketball: Georgia at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Well, it’s got to get easier eventually. Just not tonight. Georgia plays its third top fifteen-ranked opponent in four SEC games this evening in Stegeman Coliseum, hosting the #12 Kentucky Wildcats. Tipoff is at 7:00 eastern on ESPN.

When last we checked in on our protagonists they were putting in a good effort against #14 Auburn before a smattering of bad ball handling, questionable shot selection, and less-than-optimal rebounding combined to let things get away. The ‘Dawgs fell 93-78 to fall to 1-2 in SEC play.

The good news is that what looks to be a pretty spirited home crowd may help tonight. The bad news is that the ‘Cats are, per usual, deep and talented, including super freshman Ashton Hagans, a former Bulldog commit (6.5 ppg, 1.7 rpg). The Bluegrass State Felines are led by big (6’6, 215) freshman guard Keldon Johnson, averaging 15.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

An upset win over Coach John Calipari’s team would be a huge step in the right direction. I’m not optimistic, but I am hopeful. Until later...

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
