Georgia will receive the second half kickoff trailing 20-7 after a half of football that honestly could have turned out worse.
The Bulldogs lost the turnover battle, rushed for only 29 yards, and made Texas QB Sam Ehlinger look like Tim Tebow. But some signs of life began to appear near the half, with Georgia moving the ball well until a protection foul up knocked them out of field goal range.
If the Athenians can come out and score to start the second half this game is well within reach in spite of everything. But this has the feel of a game that could slip away more easily than it can be crawled back into. With so many veteran players out, especially on defense, Kirby Smart may need some of his younger ‘Dawgs to step up and make a play. Absent that, we are headed toward a disappointing end to a promising season.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
