Kirby Smart and the Bulldog coaching staff played host to a who’s who of college football recruits this weekend for the grand unveiling of the new west endzone locker room facility. Not surprisingly, some of those blue chippers took the opportunity to announce that they’ll be back in Athens on a more permanent basis.
And while we’ll be talking about a couple of other big commitments later, the biggest on the day was likely the first. This morning Louisiana tailback John Emery, Jr. picked the ‘Dawgs over the likes of Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi State. An offer list like that would imply that Emery is in high demand.
That’s 100% accurate. Rated the #2 tailback in America and the #31 player overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings, Emery has an impressive combination of size (5’11, 206 pounds) and quickness. He’s the type of big, smooth tailback who can get tough yards between the tackles but also make defenders miss and take it to the house.
Emery becomes the fifth five star prospect to commit to the G for 2019, clearly in the lead for the most in the nation. Importantly, Emery keeps the rotation stocked at a position at which you simply cannot have enough talent. Until later...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
