Georgia’s high rate of success in pulling high-caliber athletes out of the Thomaston area continued this week with the commitment of five-star defensive tackle Travon Walker to the Bulldogs.
One the country’s top-rated defensive prospects, Walker joins one current Bulldog and former Upson-Lee teammate already in Athens, David Marshall as well as one of the jewels of Tom Crean’s first signing class - Tye Fagan.
In Walker, listed at 6-foot-5 and 272 pounds, Georgia not only gets some help filling a position of need in its 2019 class, but does so with tremendous talent.
Beat out Auburn, Alabama and Clemson for Walker doesn’t hurt, either.
Obviously, Walker is not just a warm body to plug in to take up space. He’s a guy that’s highly capable of making plays, as shown by his prowess as a three-sport athlete in track & field in the shot put and as part of the Knights basketball team that’s unbeaten in the past two seasons.
