Day two of SEC Media Days gets underway this morning with a brief word from SEC head of officials Steve Shaw. He’ll be explaining to us the rules league officials will be emphasizing when they randomly victimize SEC teams at some point this season. Will “"playing while Georgia” be reduced to a ten yard penalty and loss of down? Stay tuned to find out.
Then at 9:00 am we hear from the folks you’ve been waiting for, Kirby Smart and his players. Seniors Terry Godwin and Jonathan Ledbetter and junior J.R. Reed will join the boss man at the podium, in no small part because they’re veteran leaders who can be trusted to say very little interesting and/or bulletin board-worthy.
We might get a little bit of injury or roster news, but for the most part I expect the usual Smart party line: we’re not ready, we have to get better across the board. I can dig that.
The morning time slot will also feature Ole Miss’s Matt Luke, a very enthusiastic man who’ve going to win 7 games enthusiastically for the foreseeable future.
The afternoon slate brings us Arkansas head coach Chad Morris and Florida’s Dan Mullen. Mullen will say something brash and/or goofy about Georgia. He won't be able to help himself. Maybe it’s the metal plate in his head. Let’s hope no one revs up the microwave.
You can watch the full proceedings on SEC Network, or stream on WatchESPN and SEC Network+. This will also serve as the open thread for this morning’s Smart talk. Until later...
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
