Diamond Dawgs Hosting Regional

Nicole Adamson/UGA Sports Communications

To the surprise of few, Georgia will host a baseball regional next weekend with the start of the NCAA Tournament.

The eighth-ranked Bulldogs (37-19) will be playing host to a regional for the first time since 2008. Georgia went on to finish as the national runner-up that year.

Game times, opponents and the overall seeding for this week’s regional, set for Friday through next Monday, will be announced Monday at Noon on ESPNU. The seedings will reveal the Bulldogs chances of a Super Regional should they emerge as champions of the Athens Regional, as well as the possible opponent.

Overall, this will be Georgia’s 11th regional appearance and fifth to be hosted at Foley Field. The Bulldogs have won all four regionals that they have hosted.

The listing of teams awarded regionals reflects strongly of Georgia’s strength of schedule that is ranked ninth in RPI nationally .

Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss and Arkansas are each opponents from Georgia’s regular season schedule that will host.
