Georgia opens the SEC baseball tournament this morning from Hoover, Ala., against Texas A&M, 3-1 winners on Tuesday against Vanderbilt.
Georgia is seeded third for the tournament, its first top-four seed in the tourney since 2008 when the Bulldogs were the College World Series runners-up.
Where to watch/listen
First pitch is at 10:30 a.m EDT on the SEC Network and the Bulldog Sports Network from IMG via WRFC -960 The Ref in Athens, the Tunein App, the Georgia Bulldogs App as well as XM Radio.
If Georgia wins
With a victory, the Bulldogs would face either Auburn on Ole Miss on Thursday with the loser of Georgia and A&M playing the loser of Ole Miss and Auburn.
Pitching Projections
C.J. Smith (1-0, 0.90 ERA) is projected to start Wednesday with Chase Adkins (5-0, 4.15 ERA slated for Thursday)
Regional Implications
For all intents and purposes, Georgia will be at home for the NCAA regionals next weekend. Now, it’s a question of how high a seed the Diamond Dawgs will be, which would weigh heavy if Georgia advances to the Super Regionals. How Georgia plays over the next few days could impact that, either helping or hurting those odds of a preferred draw.
D1Baseball.com has Georgia as the fourth overall seed with BaseballAmerica slotting Georgia as a No. 3 national seed in its projections.
Needless to say - UGA’s e-mail regarding postseason baseball ticket priority was not exactly putting a proverbial cart before the horse.
