Georgia fans probably expected their team to have a pretty good NFL draft. But they may not have expected a record-setting first day.
Roquan Smith (#8, Chicago Bears), Isaiah Wynn (#23, New England Patriots), and Sony Michel (#31, also to New England) combined to give the Bulldogs the first three pick first round in school history. The number of Bulldogs selected was second only to Alabama, which put four players in the first round.
And the ranks of NFL ‘Dawgs are likely to swell further on Friday. Nick Chubb and Lorenzo Carter have both garnered second round grades in many mock drafts. Georgia hasn’t placed four players within the top fifty selections since 2005, when Thomas Davis and David Pollack went in the first round and Reggie Brown and Odell Thurman were picked in the second. As many as nine Bulldogs could hear their names called by the end of the weekend, which would eclipse the program record of eight drafted players set in 2002 and 2013.
The second and third rounds will begin this evening at 7:00 pm eastern, with TV coverage on ESPN, NFL Network, and Fox.
Until later . . .
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
